ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Passenger Vessels; Passenger Vessel Emergency Alarms

On August 13, 2007, the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board) established an advisory committee to make recommendations on issues related to the effectiveness of emergency alarm systems for individuals with hearing loss or deafness on passenger vessels. (72 FR 45200; August 13, 2007). The advisory committee recommendations will assist the Access Board in developing accessibility guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act for passenger vessels. The next meeting of the committee will take place on August 12 and 13, 2008. The preliminary meeting agenda, along with information about the committee, is available at the Access Board's Web site (http://www.access-board.gov/pvaac/alarms).
