Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Tex.) tweeted that one a Democratic member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee has “gone on record” against the House healthcare reform bill:
At least 1 democrat has gone on record as opposing the Waxman bill.
So only 9 to go!#healthbill
Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee member Mike Ross (D-Ark.) has criticized the healthcare bill for not doing enough to reduce healthcare costs and would cause job losses.
Ross, who is the Blue Dogs’ point man on healthcare, said Wednesday “we cannot support the current bill…Last time I checked, it took seven Democrats to stop a bill in Energy and Commerce.” He added that he knows of three other Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee who would vote against the bill as it currently stands.
