Medical News: ICAD: Fish Oil Fails to Slow Alzheimer's Decline - in Meeting Coverage, ICAD from MedPage Today

Supplements of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oil, failed to slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease in a 402-patient clinical trial, researchers reported. Eighteen months after the patients were randomized to DHA or placebo, scientists observed an 8-point decline in the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale -- cognitive score in both groups (P=0.407).
