Fiscally conservative House Democrats protested their own party's healthcare reform bill, while the powerful Senate Finance Committee still failed to produce formal legislation. All things considered, it wasn't a week packed with progress in Congress.
Mainstream Democrats in the House planned on releasing a final draft of their bill by Friday, but a group of fiscal conservatives known as "Blue Dogs," derailed the effort with a last-minute letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) and Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.), outlining concerns with the bill.
