AoA FY 2010 Budget Signed into Law

Assistant Secretary Kathy Greenlee has announced that President Obama signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2010 on December 16, 2009. This legislation provides appropriations for the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Labor, State, Transportation, the Treasury, Veterans Affairs and other agencies. It also contains AoA’s budget for FY 2010.

The AoA budget, which totals $1,516,297,000, is $22 million over last year’s level. It contains a nearly $10 million increase for nutrition services for older Americans and an increase of $7 million for home and community- based services. Increases have also been included for Native American programs and long term care ombudsman programs that advocate for and help nursing home residents and their families.
