Arthritis causes more disability in minorities despite lower arthritis prevalence than in whites, according to results of a nationally representative survey.
Black and Hispanic patients reported more pain and restriction of daily activities with arthritis than did white patients, Julie Bolen, PhD, of the CDC in Atlanta, and colleagues reported in the May issue of Preventing Chronic Disease.
These findings point to the need for culturally appropriate and effective intervention tailored to these populations, they wrote.
