As I've said, my preference is to make Social Security more, rather than less, generous. There are a lot of areas in which the federal government should be spending a lot less -- but I don't think Social Security is one of them. Still, Social Security reform is likely to be a big issue in the fall, and so it's worth getting a sense of the wide range of potential changes available. This chart comes from the Congressional Budget Office's report on 'Policy Options in Social Security,' and it shows both what people think they are, and how much they'll save
