walkinginfo.org: Neighborhoods receive funding to improve pedestrian safety

Community walkability is key for persons with a disability and older persons in order to remain active in their communities. Ten communities from across the U.S. have been selected to receive funding from the UNC Highway Safety Research Center (HSRC) to improve pedestrian safety and help make their environments more “walkable” with the use of the guide, A Resident’s Guide for Creating Safe and Walkable Communities.
