What Ezekiel Emanuel Wrote on the WSJ Op-Ed Page - Health Blog - WSJ

By Jacob Goldstein - Ezekiel Emanuel, an oncologist who is advising the White House on health care, has become a target for those arguing that the Democrats’ health care plans would lead to withholding care for the sick and the elderly. Emanuel has written extensively on bioethics and end-of-life care, and this morning’s WSJ notes that parts of some of his articles — particularly one from 1996, discussing which medical services should be guaranteed — have provided fuel for opponents of President Obama’s health-care agenda. One article that hasn’t come up much is a piece he wrote in 1997, for the WSJ’s op-ed page. We’ve pulled it out of the archive, and you can read it in full if you’re a WSJ.com subscriber.
