Health Coverage Chartbook Becomes Online Resource,

The Kaiser Family Foundation's Commission on Medicaid and he Uninsured (KCMU) has been producing annual chartbooks on the uninsured population and health coverage for nearly a decade, examining how many Americans lack coverage, who the uninsured are and how health insurance coverage is changing. This year, the Health Insurance Coverage in America chartbook has been reformatted as a web-based information resource including charts and tables to provide a more comprehensive profile of the uninsured population and health insurance coverage more generally. The chartbook is part of Kaiser Fast Facts, a new component of the kff.org Web site, featuring QuickTakes, an inventory of facts-at-a-glace on our health system and a variety of health policy topics, and Kaiser Slides, a tool which allows users to view, download, save or print charts and tables for use in individual presentations or at meetings. The Health Insurance Coverage in America chartbook is divided into four sections on key subgroups of the American population: the nonelderly, children, nonelderly adults, and working adults. Some of the important social and economic determinants of health insurance coverage highlighted in the charts are examined by: Age, gender, family income, family work status, education, household type, race/ethnicity, citizenship, and health status. And specifically for the working adult population: Work status, occupation, industry, and employer size. Individual slides, sections, and the entire chartbook are available for download as PowerPoint or PDF files. http://facts.kff.org/chartbook.aspx?cb=50 For further information on health coverage, the new chartbook or Fast Facts contact rsingh@kff.org or rsidel@kff.org.
