Medical News: Genetics of BP in African-Americans Identified - in Cardiovascular, Hypertension from MedPage Today

A genome-wide study uncovered five genetic variants that may contribute to blood pressure specifically in African-Americans. These variants were associated with high systolic blood pressure, but not diastolic blood pressure or combined systolic and diastolic pressure, Adebowale Adeyemo, MD, of the National Human Genome Research Institute in Bethesda, Md., and colleagues found.
