2008 Mainstream Voucher Recipients- Information Bulletin #292 (8/09)
by Steve Gold
On 8/5/09, HUD announced the Housing Authorities that competed and won 2008 Mainstream vouchers. The list of HAs is below together with the number of vouchers. These vouchers are targeted for non-elderly people with disabilities.
These vouchers were competitive. Did your Housing Authority apply for them? Do non-elderly people with disabilities in your area need housing vouchers? Has your Housing Authority recognized that there are people in institutions because they cannot afford housing and would leave the institutions if they had one of these vouchers? If your Housing Authority did not apply, why not?
Obviously, it is important to make sure that the 2008 Mainstream vouchers below are awarded properly and only to non-elderly people with disabilities. Have you discussed with the Housing Authorities listed below how they plan to do this?
The 2008 vouchers listed below are NOT the 4,000 Mainstream vouchers funded in 2009, which we discussed in the Information Bulletin #290 on June 30, 2009. See http://www.stevegoldada.com
Have you met with your Housing Authority regarding the 2009 Mainstream vouchers, which are also for non-elderly people with disabilities? Is your Housing Authority planning to apply for the 2009 vouchers?
If you have met with your Housing Authority officials regarding the 2009 Mainstream's 4,000 vouchers and if they are not going to apply, we'd like to hear what they said and to learn why they will not apply. Thanks.
